We have now entered into hurricane season and some of us that live outside of the state of Florida might have questions. If you have a cell phone and know how to text (which you should learn to do now) you will be able to text a friend to find out what going on even though you can not call-in. When it comes to Fema, they won't do anything for about three days to find out what our needs will be. WWW.FEMA.GOV/
If you plan on coming down after a disaster, you will need a auto window hanger to prove residence. (This is a St. Pete Beach Policy only) There are different colors to indiate where you live and to keep everyone where they belong. The island has three ways on and off the island and you will NOT be allowed onto other islands with these auto passes. If you know of a shut-ins (people that need help)contact the fire department a head of time to register. (727)363-9206 their assistance. City hall operator number is (727)367-2735

I work with the city of St. Pete Beach hurricane preparedness group. Cell phones companies are charging $1.00 to $1.75 or more for 411 Information calls. Since no one carries a telephone directory in their Vehicle, they get away with it. When you need to use the 411 Information option, simply dial 1(800) FREE 411, or 1 (800) 373-3411; you will incur no charge. This works on your home telephone as well.
